Field Trips 2010

SkyVenture Virtual – Tuesday, June 29th
The Virtual Air Tunnel is in Nashua, New Hampshire.  All children will take a training session first and then take flight.  The flying occurs above an over sized trampoline in New England’s only indoor vertical air tunnel.  This is extremely unique, safe, and fun!

Fenway Park Tour – Tuesday, July 6th
This is awesome!  The bus will drop us off right outside the gates!  VIP!  The children will actually get to walk along the warning track of the Green Monster and check out the dugouts.  If that isn’t cool enough, they will get to check out the 400 club seats, the monster seats, and much more!  Part of the tour is a stop at the Official Red Sox Souvenir Shop. Extra money is optional.  Please pack a lunch and snack for this trip.  This is the only trip that a Summer Program T-Shirt is not required, that is, if you are wearing Red Sox attire of course!  Councilors and children travel together in one large tour group.

FunWorld – Tuesday, July 13th
FunWorld is in Nashua, NH, and has everything from indoor playgrounds, to video games and arcades, to bumper cars and race cars.  Each child will get $20 worth of tokens, 4 ride tickets, and lunch (pizza and soda).  This is a Summer Program favorite, don’t miss out!

Hampton Beach – Tuesday, July 20th
We will be headed to Hampton State Park Beach for the day.  There are bathrooms, showers, and a small shop on site.  Children MUST bring their own lunch, towel, and sunscreen.  On the beach we will designate our own area from the sand to the water with cones.  Children are required to stay within the cones at all times.  Also, three members of our staff will always be in the water.  We will visit the shop as we are leaving and kids will be allowed to purchase an ice cream.  Please send a few extra dollars for this treat.

Canobie Lake Park- No Summer Program unless attending- Monday, July 26th  10am-5pm
This trip is all day fun!  We must take all of our staff in order to accommodate the amount of children that join us.  It is optional whether or not your child brings or buys a lunch.  However, if they bring a lunch, it must be in bag that can be thrown away.  We recommend bathing suits underneath Summer Program T-Shirts as there are many water rides.  We do not use the swimming pool.  We will not allow them to carry a bag or cooler around during the day.  Children are allowed to pick their own group, but once the group is set, it will not be changed.  Group sizes vary by age from 4-6 children per group.  Please keep in mind that there are many rides on this trip and it may not be suitable for your child.

Pawtucket Red Sox – Tuesday, August 3rd
We have a limited number of tickets for this game.  Although it’s a long ride, it’s well worth the all day trip.  Kids will enjoy being at a mini Fenway and watching all of the stars to be.  All of Tewksbury Recreation will sit together in the same section and cheer on the home field team! Go PawSox!

Six Flags New England – Tuesday, August 10th
This trip is for the older kids only.  We will take children from grades 3-8.  The reason for this is the long bus ride, early start and late ending.  It’s too long of a day for the little ones.  Children must bring money for lunch and snacks as we are not allowed to carry in any food or beverages. Please wear your bathing suit underneath Summer Program T-Shirts as there is a water park that we will visit.  Children should bring drinks and snacks for the bus rides.

Water Country - No Summer Program unless attending—Tuesday, August 17th, 9am-5pm
There is absolutely no use of the wave pool for Summer Program participants.  Children are in groups of 4-5 depending on age, with a councilor.  You may bring a lunch or buy a lunch.  We suggest sun block and towels.  We have a designated area where children can leave their belongings.  Please nothing valuable-just in case! Please keep in mind that there are many rides on this field and it may not be suitable for your child.
